The Real Housewives of New Jersey have been involving their husbands in filming a lot lately and so far, and we are ready for The Real Househusbands of NJ!

The Real Housewives of New Jersey is definitely one of the more family-oriented franchises.  From the start, Teresa Giudice and Joe Giudice have always had their family, and family drama, on the show.  There’s SO much drama that happened between the families back in the day, but many of those families are no longer on the show.  Now, Teresa’s brother and sister-in-law, Melissa and Joe Gorga, are the only family ties left.

But the last couple of seasons have involved the husbands in the show more and more.  They have their own filming events and even go on the trips with the women.  In the most recent episode, Joe was there for Gia’s prom party.

Gia was going to prom with Dolores Catania’s son, Frankie Catania.  Since Joe Giudice was still locked up at the time of filming, Joe Gorga was there for Gia on her big night (fun fact: Joe is also Gia’s godfather).  The two families have not always gotten along.  In fact, they’ve probably spent more time fighting than getting along (cue the extended fight scene from BravoTV.com), but they really have come a long way.

But then men joined the women on the trip to the shore, and even get happy hour without the women.  They have their own scenes and their own fights!  But at the same time, Joe Gorga thinks it’s his place to speak to Bill Aydin about Jennifer Aydin’s behavior…which it really is not.  But the fact that they have a relationship and speak on screen for more than just a passing “hello” is pretty funny.

Perhaps this involvement is because there’s so much storyline revolving around Joe being gone.  It gives production an opportunity to tell his story, but also includes the rest of the husbands and their stories.  Whatever the case, would you watch a show about the husbands?  Or do you think this is specific to Jersey because Joe is gone for such an extended period of time?

The Real Housewives of New Jersey is on Bravo Wednesday nights at 8 PM!
