RHOC: Meghan King Edmonds and her relationship with the internet
By Amanda Cline
The RHOC mom has been having a hard time lately with her personal life, but is she spending too much time feeding the trolls online?
After the very public realization that her marriage was over after an alleged affair among other things, Meghan King Edmonds has been in the news a lot lately. Earlier in the month, the former RHOC mom posted a story to her Instagram that her daughter, Aspen, had found a melatonin gummy in her bag and ate it.
The story showed little Aspen sleeping soundly, but Meghan quickly deleted the post after backlash. Bravo has a screenshot of the Instagram story on their site. The melatonin gummies were for kids and something they took occasionally anyway, but people were still not thrilled with her story.
Meghan posted a photo on her Instagram over the weekend of her wearing some lingerie gifted by Avery Rose lingerie. The caption read, “BUT YOU’RE A MOTHER. PS To all the “Nancys in Nebraska”: as you become overly concerned with a stranger just remember ima still do me✌🏼Brb gotta go live my best life byeeeee.” There’s nothing wrong with the photo Meghan posted or anything else, but is she just feeding into the trolls and giving them what they want?
It seems like Meghan has really been bothered by the peanut gallery and their never-ending supply of mean comments, but she’s also giving them more ammo every day. Meghan’s soon-to-be-ex-husband, Jim Edmonds, is constantly posting stories with the kids in their giant house – which Meghan is not living in.
My point is not to further harass Meghan, but more a musing of why she’s so invested in what the internet has to say when it is never anything positive. It might benefit her to just…not post anything at all. No one would have known about the melatonin gummy if she hadn’t posted about it. No one would have commented about her weight in the photo if she hadn’t posted the photo.
Meghan can do whatever she wants, but sometimes saying and doing nothing is what’s best for you. The internet can be a large, angry, scary place – and inviting that in when you’re already sad can sometimes only deepen the sadness.
The Real Housewives of Orange County will be back later this year.
