The former Real Housewives of Orange County boyfriend was accused of violating HIPPA laws after the reunion, but Dr. Brian is in the clear.
The Real Housewives of Orange County fans were mad at Kelly Dodd after part two of the reunion when she supposedly confirmed that Shannon Storms Beador had liposuctions to lose weight. This was all supposedly a secret since Shannon was claiming the wight just “fell off” once she was happy again after her divorce. Kelly called Shannon out for her lies, and Tamra Judge insinuated it wasn’t okay that Dr. Brian Reagan told her private patient information.
Violating HIPPA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) laws is a serious infraction and has serious penalties. According to the HIPPA Journal, “The minimum fine for willful violations of HIPAA Rules is $50,000. The maximum criminal penalty for a HIPAA violation by an individual is $250,000.” It can also carry a jail sentence of ten years in some cases. But thankfully, Kelly did not do anything wrong – neither did Brian. Kelly was actually there for the procedure with Shannon! Kelly Tweeted that to a fan after they asked how much trouble her ex-boyfriend would be in.
Though Dr. Brian is in the clear and Kelly didn’t accidentally reveal any personal information from her friend’s doctor, I’m sure Shannon isn’t thrilled that her liposuction procedure is now public knowledge. Shannon was pretty vague about her weight loss, looking back, but I believed it was part of her whole new “healthy lifestyle” schtick, which was just that – a schtick. Shannon claimed that she didn’t have liposuction, but a procedure called BodyTite, which has similar results.
Shannon looks great and seems healthier regardless of how the weight came off, so congrats to her. And congrats to Dr. Brian on getting out of his relationship with Kelly relatively unscathed. That’s a feat in itself!
The Real Housewives of Orange County Reunion Part III airs Thursday, December 26 at 10 PM.
