Real Housewives of Orange County: Poking the bear on a booze cruise didn’t work
By Amanda Cline
The Real Housewives of Orange County wives think Kelly Dodd needs therapy, but I think all of them could use some help at this point.
The Real Housewives of Orange County women are still in Key West causing a ruckus. But first of all, Vicki Gunvalson and her disregard for Ernest Hemingway and The Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum is just another nail in the coffin for me. “What did he write? No wonder I don’t care about him.” Vicki, reading is important. Pick up a book sometime. For Whom the Bell Tolls? Kelly Dodd, the bell tolls for Kelly.
Try as they might
For all that the Trea Amigas have done to Kelly Dodd on this trip, I think her behavior has been totally in line. Vicki has done anything and everything to anger Kelly on the trip, from talking to the girl Kelly allegedly fought in a bar, to bringing up her family, buying her a hat that says Krazy as f–k, and just generally harassing her – but Kelly really didn’t flip out like I thought she might. Why the hell would Vicki reach out to the girl Kelly allegedly got into a bar fight with besides to use it against her? If anything, it angered Vicki to no end that Kelly didn’t flip out about the bar fight girl. Vicki lost her cool and started screaming in the streets of Key West like a lunatic afterward.
Kelly realizes that the girls are trying to anger her and has allowed her to be able to control her anger and walk away from the situation. When Vicki said, “You called me a pig!” Kelly simply said, “I’m not going to engage,” and walked away. Are we growing up? What is this behavior!
Now when Tamra Judge, Braunwyn Windham-Burke, and Shannon Storms Beador go to dinner, they all agree Kelly should go to therapy because she goes “low.” I must have missed where the rest of them are taking the high road.
The only reason anything interesting is happening in this franchise is because Kelly can defend herself against the other women. She can engage, but like the therapist on the beach said, Kelly remaining calm and walking away is actually more of a win than one-upping Vicki’s low-blows. “My approach is to be more kind and loving.” I just hope Kelly can hold her own for one more episode.
Next week is the finale, and then Bravo is churning out all of the reunion episodes in quick succession before the holiday…
The Real Housewives of Orange County is on Bravo at 9 PM every Tuesday.
