This week’s RHOC episode was all about Vicki Gunvalson’s birthday party – until Gina Kirschenheiter decided it wasn’t.  Why was Gina so angry at the table?

After watching Gina Kirschenheiter deteriorate at the table for Queen Victoria Gunvalson’s birthday, I think it is safe to say Gina is in an incredibly bad place in her life and RHOC is following that time.  Gina and Braunwyn Windham-Burke got into an argument about public schools verse private schools, but I don’t think Gina was just arguing to argue.  Gina is lashing out at her cast mates not because she truly cares about the private school system, but because her husband is emotionally and physically abusing her off camera and she has to hide it.

Suffering in silence

Vicki’s birthday is at the end of March, and Gina’s husband Matt was first arrested at the end of June.  She also filed for an emergency restraining order that remains in place to this day.  In one of the more recent episodes, Gina commented that she woke up and Matt was in her home, in her room.  That’s how his “suspicion of domestic violence” charge against Gina happened, too.  It wasn’t until last month that Matt was officially charged with domestic violence and false imprisonment stemming from the incident.

The real issues

During the episode, Gina and her daughter, Sienna, went to see a specialist.  Gina recently admitted on the Bravo after show that hearing about Sienna’s setback was a reality check for her.  “I feel like it’s my fault because I felt like I did something wrong or I failed to see something with one of my kids.”

She goes on to say that without Matt being around and all of the other issues going on in their home, sometimes she felt the answer was getting back with Matt.  She admitted that they spent the night together earlier in the episode because she felt that might be the best decision for her family.

All of these things are hard to deal with.  Dealing with all of them at once is a whole different game.  Gina is definitely suffering in silence, trying to hold her family together, while also enduring abuse from someone who supposedly loves her.  Gina’s behavior at lunch might not be the best, but it is pretty understandable under the circumstances.

The Real Housewives of Orange County is on Bravo at 9 PM every Tuesday.
