The Real Housewives of Orange County star spoke out about her role in the franchise and what she thinks of the new additions.

The demoted Real Housewives of Orange County star recently sat down with Us Weekly and had a chat about the direction the franchise is currently going in.  It’s no secret that the current season of RHOC has definitely taken a turn in a new direction, and Vicki Gunvalson isn’t having it.  She claims this season is “raunchy” and full of crying and yelling (true), but she also went on to say that she created the franchise and it is no longer the same.

"“When I created this franchise 15 years ago, it was about our lives and having the opportunity to showcase the world the privileged lifestyle we lead."

If you watched the show from the start, it was definitely more family-oriented.  We saw the ladies with their children and husbands, driving in their fancy cars, shopping at expensive stores and flashing the price of things on the screen.  A $70,00 Lexus,  a $6,000 Louis Vuitton handbag, a $120,000 pool addition.

Now the ladies go out to dinner and screech the entire time, Tamra Judge makes out with Braunwyn Windham-Burke and lays on the floor next to a discarded piece of fried chicken.  It is not entertaining, it’s sad and embarrassing.

Since it’s inception, Vicki has been a part of the franchise.  I wouldn’t say she created the franchise, but for the last fourteen seasons, she has been an integral part of it.  But times change, and people move on.  If Vicki thinks the show is below her now, then maybe it is time for her to walk away completely?

Vicki is a pretty polarizing character for a lot of viewers.  Some love her and relate to her, some think her ship sailed a long time ago and she should have been demoted completely.  Her dislike of new cast members, for example, Braunwyn, is a tale as old as time.  But new cast members bring new viewers…And isn’t that the whole point?

The Real Housewives of Orange County is on Bravo at 9 PM every Tuesday.
