The Real Housewives of Orange County cast certainly benefitted from the addition of Kelly Dodd at first, but has she gone too far?

The Real Housewives of Orange County added Kelly Dodd in season eleven and she fit in well with the squad.  Now that it’s her fourth season, Kelly has gone through many changes in recent years: she got divorced, moved out of her million-dollar home on the beach into a potentially-condemned-condo, started dating (and stopped) and even decided to help fund a beverage company (huh?). But when did we decide hitting people on the head was okay?

The head bonk heard ’round Arizona

Regardless of where you stand on Kelly, I think we can all agree that hitting someone over the head amidst a zen retreat is a little out of line.  Shannon Storms Beador was being dramatic, but only after Tamra Judge egged her on and told her she could die.  Beside the point though – why would Kelly think it’s okay to hurt her friend?  Then in order to prove that she didn’t actually hurt Shannon, Kelly went ahead and whacked Gina Kirschenheiter with her hand, which was also not well received.

I prefer to see Kelly interact with her daughter, Jolie, and go to the soup kitchen.  Hell, even going to Gucci to buy “$1,000 shoes” is entertaining enough, but taking a mallet to someone’s head while they have a metal bowl on it is no longer entertaining.

Kelly seems louder and more irrational than she was in previous seasons.  She quickly broke up with Dr. Brian Reagan while on vacation in Greece, announced it on social media and announced she was dating Fox News’ Rick Leventhal by the time she got back to the states.

So when does a housewife stop being entertaining?  Has Kelly reached her peak in the eyes of the viewers and now it’s time to watch her fall from grace?  It’ll be interesting to see how the rest of the season unravels.

The Real Housewives of Orange County is on Bravo at 9 PM every Tuesday.
