Tinsley Mortimer Rescues Two Dogs From the Yulin Dog Meat Festival
By Amanda Cline
The Real Housewives of New York’s Tinsley Mortimer has two new loves in her life, Strawberry and Shortcake, the dogs!
Tinsley Mortimer recently traveled to China with No Dogs Left Behind to help save dogs from the dog meat trade. While there, she rescued two new dogs of her own, Strawberry and Shortcake.
No Dogs Left Behind described itself as:
"A global animal rescue organization that engages every stage of rescue, from emergency response to final dog adoption through international alliances and engaging local resources."
Their mission is to save dogs, expose the forces behind this awful trade, and educate the public about the humane treatment of dogs. They also have been working with the government to try and end the barbaric practice, once and for all.
In last week’s episode, we saw Tinsley Mortimer mourn the loss of her beloved dog, Bambi. Bambi recently participated in a fashion show with Tinsley, before being diagnosed with cancer. Rest in peace, Bambi.
Lisa Vanderpump of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills has been a driving force in shutting down the Yulin Dog Meat Festival. In 2017, they helped pass a ban on serving and selling tortured animals from the festival. Lisa has been working with the Duo Duo Project, and the Humane Society International to permanently ban the practice.
Happy homes
Not only did Tinsley rescue the two dogs above, but she helped rescue even more dogs and brought them back to New York to help find their forever homes.
Volunteers help out at the sanctuary in Beijing, and can even help bring them back to the US on what they call “freedom flights.”
Tinsley helped bring oreo, pictured below in her Instagram photo, back to the US to get adopted.
If you’d like to support No Dogs Left behind, you can donate through their website, sponsor a dog, or even foster a dog. You can also sign up to be a volunteer.
Thanks to Tinsley and Lisa for everything they do for these pups!
Real Housewives of New York will be back next Wednesday at 9 PM ET on Bravo for the season finale.
