Southern Charm New Orleans is once again, the Reagan show.  I’m okay with it, but is the cast over it already?

Southern Charm New Orleans’ opens this week with Tamica Lee finally getting to see Reagan Charleston’s new house. But she doesn’t want to talk about new furniture or fixtures. She wants to know why Reagan is frontin’.

And I get it. If my best friend went through a divorce and was floating through everything wearing a smile and pretending to be okay, I would be very alarmed.

Is the Reagan and Tamica friendship over?

Tamica needs to stop calling Reagan her best friend. Reagan was done with her and Jeff Charleston’s marriage when we met them last season. There was so much tension and Reagan moved to the French Quarter WITHOUT Jeff. Nobody bought that “need to focus on law school” excuse because… Who does that? None of it made sense then, but now that we’ve met Reece, it’s becoming crystal clear.

But Tamica seems to be out of tune. I guess she doesn’t watch her own show… Or maybe Reagan truly is tripping. Either way, it’s time for Tamica to let it go and/or accept that this is how we’re moving forward.

I usually don’t take sides with people who make such apparently bad decisions, but Reagan is right when it comes to Tamica. It’s basically harassment at this point since Tamica brings it up every time they’re on camera.

Jeff is moving on too

Jeff’s side of things seems to be moving along pretty well. Jon Moody has stepped in as a “fairy godfather” of sorts, dedicated to getting Jeff ready for the ball that is life after Reagan. He seems to be feeling his emotions genuinely, expressing himself honestly, and being open with his friends.

We haven’t seen him breakdown over his divorce and he tells Jon that the last couple years of his marriage were his breakdown. And that makes sense. We saw it.

It doesn’t make sense that Reagan would set up a meeting with Jeff to tell him in person that she’s engaged to marry another man a week after their divorce is final. That seems unnecessarily cruel. I get that she wanted him to find out from her rather than from someone in the crew, but a text message would’ve been cool.

She didn’t need to see him speechless, wrestling with his emotions to find the most appropriate response. She didn’t need his blessing, so what was she expecting? Validation? She calls it “closure” when she tells Reece about it, but even he is sick of the in-person meetings and assumes that there was underlying pain for Jeff. Why doesn’t Reagan see that?

Love Shack

Perhaps Reagan is so blinded by love (or whatever) that she can’t see what everyone else is seeing. Everything is happening so fast, and no one is seeing the behavior they expect from a recently-divorced couple in their friend group. Reagan is so focused on “moving on” that she’s ignoring what her friends are saying.

Besides… their questions and assumptions don’t line up with her fairy tale. Nonetheless… Her Reece rollout could have been a little better…

Then maybe the group would have been happy for her when she awkwardly announced her new engagement. The confusion on everyone’s faces should have been a signal that at the very least her friends need more information. Especially since she’ll be telling them about her pregnancy in the next episode…

For what it’s worth, I’m happy for Reagan. Despite deciding to keep the Charleston name, she is starting the family she always wanted with the man she’s apparently always held a flame for. It’ll be a beautiful story to tell their daughter one day — as long as Tamica doesn’t ruin it first…
