A lot has changed on The Real Housewives of New York since Ramona Singer entered the scene. From books to wine and even the catwalk, she has done it all.
One of the interesting things about the Real Housewives of New York franchise throughout the seasons is how the show was filmed and presented. RHONY premiered in 2008 with five housewives: Ramona Singer, LuAnn de Lesseps, Bethenny Frankel, Alex McCord and Jill Zarin. Ramona is the only housewife to be on the show through all eleven seasons.
During Season 1 of The Real Housewives of New York, the focus is on the women and their families. The family members are featured in the intro, they introduce the audience to their children, their children’s friends, and their husbands (when applicable). On the current seasons, the focus is more about the inter-cast drama.
Keeping this in mind, here are Ramona’s taglines throughout the seasons:
Season 1-3: “I like making my own money, I find that an aphrodisiac.”
Season 4: “If People Can’t Handle The Truth, It’s Really Not My Problem.”
Season 5: “I’m Not Afraid To Say What Everyone Else Is Thinking.”
Season 6: “Get The Pinot Ready Because It’s Turtle Time.”
Season 7: “I Know I’m A Piece Of Work, But Now I’m A Work In Progress.”
Season 8: “Like A Fine Wine, I Just Get Better With Time.”
Season 9: “I’m An Acquired Taste. If You Don’t Like Me, Acquire Some Taste.”
Season 10: “Age Is An Issue Of Mind Over Matter: If You Don’t Mind, It Doesn’t Matter!”
Season 11: “The only thing I’ll settle for is more.”
Remember when we first met Ramona?
When we meet Ramona on The Real Housewives of New York in 2008, she is a businesswoman with a family. You can tell by her tagline she is happy being independent and making her own money, but she is also happily married.
She runs RM Fashions, has a husband named Mario, and a very bright daughter named Avery. When we first meet Avery, she is barely 12 or 13 on the show.
In a camera confessional on the first episode of Season 1, Avery commented, “the reason I study so hard is because I want to go to college, have a good job and be able to make a lot of money for myself. My mom she told me to always be independent and make your own money because, say something happens in your relationship, you don’t want to have financial decisions so my mom always says it’s very important to make your own money.”
This is something Ramona’s mom taught her at a young age, and something she has instilled in Avery as well.
Ramona tells the audience that her mom was financially dependent on someone and was forced to stay in a bad situation, so she made sure Ramona would never be in the same position. This advice proved very helpful in later years.
Avery is now 23 and in college.
Worth noting in this Ramona timeline is in 2009, Ramona shocked us all with her hilarious catwalk during Fashion Week. Bravo has the video here.
Turtle time signified changes for Ramona Singer
Around Season 6 of The Real Housewives of New York, we see a change in Ramona and her tagline. It was around this time that she was having marital issues with Mario. She was ready to have fun and “turtle time” with her friends. Her and Mario divorced in 2015.
In 2011, Ramona gave us Ramona Pinot. 2015 gave us Life on the Ramona Coaster. Recently, she’s conjured up AGELESS by Ramona Skincare.
Fast forward to 2018, Ramona walks on the catwalk again with Coco. Thankfully it seems as if she’s been practicing. She is confident and relaxed helping her Real Housewives of New York cast mate Tinsley Mortimer with the Strut Your Mutt event for Best Friends Animal Society.
We can tell that Ramona is living her best life these days. She recently remodeled her Berkshires’s home and it looks great. See her Instagram post below for a shot of the great room:
Her and Avery are still close, and we even saw Mario show his face in a preview for next weeks episode. These days, the episodes of RHONY are mostly filled with fighting between the cast mates. We see family members pop in and out, but the focus is on the drama.
With that said, we love a Season 11 Ramona. She says, “I’m not concerned with what people think about me, I’m just doing me. Let it go.”
Later in the episode, she shows up to the dinner table in her sexy pajamas with a large glass of wine in her hands. You do you, Ramona!
An important thing to remember here is that Ramona Singer never had a “glow up” – she’s always been glowing. She’s always been a successful business women who deeply cared for her family, and she said it best in Season 8: “Like A Fine Wine, I Just Get Better With Time.” We agree!
Her tagline for Season 11 is “The only thing I’ll settle for is more,” and she deserves nothing less.
What do you think about Mario being back on our screens? Should Ramona run? Should she “turtle time” in place? Either way, we are grateful for her presence on our TV screens for 11 seasons.
Mazel, Ramona!
