Housewives Spotlight

Housewife: Gina Kirschenheiter

City: Orange County

RHOC’s Gina Kirschenheiter burst onto the scene last year and was immediately a lightning rod for the franchise. The Long Island native was unafraid to express her opinion and get into the middle of the juicy RHOC drama. After several seasons revolving mostly around the Tamra/Vicki/Shannon triangle, it was a breath of fresh air for someone like Gina to come into the picture. Whether it was her marriage that fell apart early in the season or calling Shannon out on her behavior, Gina makes a great case for MVP of the OC.

A lot of new Housewives struggle to find their footing in their group, and they end up being one and done. It’s safe to say that RHOC’s Gina Kirschenheiter solidified herself a second season after her debut performance. She was calling bullsh** on her fellow Housewives left and right and did it with a grin on her face. For example, many of the women in the group tiptoe around Shannon Beador out of fear she will explode, but Gina was unafraid. Gina also had no qualms with calling out fellow newbie Emily Simpson’s husband on his actions either! She touts that she is Orange County until she opens her mouth, and then the Long Island attitude is unleashed.

RHOC’s Gina had a lot on her plate right out of the gate last season, and she handled all of it with class and dignity. Going through a divorce is difficult enough, but she waded through hers with a huge spotlight called The Real Housewives of Orange County watching everything. The way Gina delicately handled the divorce with her children, and put on a brave face for the kids was truly inspiring to watch. It was obvious that Gina still harbored love for her husband which made it even more courageous to put up with the other ladies judging her every action. Nobody ever wants to see someone go through something like this, but Gina likely inspired others to pull through their own dark times.

Gina Kirschenheiter was no stranger to drama during her freshman season, and the way she held everyone accountable for their actions was a refreshing change of pace. After many seasons of Vicki lying about Brooks or Shannon’s irrational outbursts, FINALLY someone in the group was calling it like they saw it. Despite her rocky relationship with Shannon, Gina had the fortitude to inform her about the nasty things the ladies were saying behind her back. That is a REAL girl. Not everyone in Gina’s situation would return the favor, but right is right and wrong is wrong, and Gina owned her stuff. This moment got her in major hot water with costar Tamra Judge who thought she was just stirring up drama for the sake of it, but in the end everyone saw Gina never threw Tamra under the bus.

Another thing Champagne & Shade loves about Gina Kirschenheiter is her close friendship with fellow cast member Emily Simpson. The two were at odds at the beginning of the most recent season, but once that was squashed a friendship quickly developed. The two can be seen together frequently on Instagram & Twitter posing for photos at an event or just hanging out. At the reunion Gina & Emily had each other’s backs and have formed a bond that could quite possibly rival the “Tres Amigas”. If both return for Season 14, a new regime might takeover the longest airing Housewives franchise.

To be a great Housewife you have to be outgoing, opinionated, and willing to fully open your life up for the viewers. Gina Kirschenheiter checks all of those boxes and then some. It’s a safe bet that Gina WILL be back for another season, and her powerhouse first season might be enough for her to hold center orange. That last part might me wishful thinking on our part, but she has enough fire to be the face of the franchise. Orange County was stagnant for a while, and who knew that all it needed was an infusion of East Coast sass. If she does return next season we will get to see SINGLE GINA, and who wouldn’t want to see that? Keep shining Gina, and slay slay slay!
