Joe Giudice knows that deportation is a possibility when he’s released, but now his lawyer is speaking out about his case, as his release nears.
Joe Giudice is currently still serving his sentence, but he could be released within the next year. When Teresa Giudice was serving her sentence, she was released early for good behavior and she was ordered the serve the rest of the sentence at home on house arrest. One can imagine that Joe wants to do the same thing and he has been using his time in jail wisely. Not only has he lost weight and gotten fit, but he has also focused on getting more education. However, there’s still a question of deportation that has to be dealt with.
When Joe Giudice was charged and sentenced to time behind bars, the judge pointed to a possible deportation that would happen once the sentence was over. This is something that Teresa has refused to talk about while filming The Real Housewives of New Jersey, even though some of her co-stars have brought it up to push her buttons. These days, his lawyer is working to prevent a deportation, even though some sources say it’s possible given the political climate. According to a Bravo report, Joe Giudice’s lawyer is now revealing that he’s not facing a deportation at the moment.
"“I can state with absolute certainty that no decision has been made regarding the immigration status of Joe Giudice. The same immigration detainer that was lodged against him in March of 2016 remains in place today, but I want to be absolutely clear about this, no judicial authority has made any decision regarding what will happen with that detainer. Mr. Giudice has immigration counsel who are and have been working aggressively on his behalf so that he can return home to his wife and four young daughters and we remain optimistic that that is how this will end.”"
The reason why Joe Giudice could be deported is that he never got his citizenship when he was living in the United States before his prison sentence.
