Is Real Housewives of New Jersey headed for cancellation?

There are a lot of RHONJ rumors floating around as the Bravo series heads toward part two of the Season 8 reunion but this one is the most troubling. 

It’s not the first time that rumors have circulated about a possible cancellation for Real Housewives of New Jersey. That was speculated quite a bit back when Teresa Giudice was back in prison. Now that we’re at the end of Season 8, the RHONJ ladies are finding themselves at the center of that rumor again.

Now here’s where it gets interesting. According to Radar Online, the cast of Real Housewives of New Jersey has been threatened with cancellation because of the over-the-top drama on the show this season. But isn’t that what they want? Drama equals ratings and ratings equal money. Why would the show get canceled because the women brought the drama?

“All of the fighting and legal threats this season were too much. Ratings were down, no one was interested in the dirty drama,” their source said. “There is a serious conversation happening about ending the show.”

After all of the ugliness of Season 8, it looks like SIggy Flicker leaving the show may have been the final straw. That is, if the Real Housewives of New Jersey cancellation rumors are even true.

“The women were told to find a way to make the show better and to help find a new lady to join the show that wouldn’t be so divisive,” said the source. “Bravo wants fun and this season was not fun.”

Well, they got that part right. The constant drama between Siggy and Margaret certainly wasn’t fun. And much like the neverending Pantygate on RHOBH or Lydia’s inability to stop talking about Doug’s balls on RHOC, the season-long drama over throwing a cake was just too much.

If Real Housewives of New Jersey doesn’t get canceled and instead returns for Season 9, fans of the show can only hope that they bring more drama and definitely different drama than they’ve had before. Bravo fans don’t want to just keep seeing the same things over and over.
