Real Housewives of Bellevue — Why did Margaret Josephs say Siggy Flicker belongs there

Last night, Part 1 of the Real Housewives of New Jersey reunion aired and it was a doozy but one comment made by Margaret Josephs left a lot of fans scratching their heads. 

During a very heated exchange between Margaret Josephs and Siggy Flicker, Marge belted out that Siggy belongs on Real Housewives of Bellevue. Many RHONJ fans wondered what on Earth she meant while others seemed to get the joke and chuckle at her mastery.

Margaret Josephs and those who cheer her on have been going on all season about how crazy Siggy Flicker has been acting. Her antics on Season 8 of Real Housewives of New Jersey have been pretty over the top a few times no. From going overboard about the cake throwing to throwing herself on the ground and humiliating Melissa Gorga, it’s been a pretty wild ride.

So why would Margaret suggest that Siggy Flicker join the cast of another (albeit make believe) Real Housewives show? Well, that’s because Bellevue is a hospital in New York. It happens to be the oldest psych ward still open in the United States. So…Real Housewives of Bellevue anyone?

According to Thrillist, the Bellevue Hospital has some pretty interesting stories. In 300 years of operation, Bellevue has been a huge part of the evolution of medicine in the United States and has been around so long, some of those stories are downright shocking. From bleeding out patients to straight up experimenting on those who were sent away for psychiatric problems, Bellevue’s hospital has quite a reputation.

Further, those who live in the New York and New Jersey areas know exactly what Margaret was talking about because locally, it’s kind of a running joke. Rather than saying that someone needs to go to the mental ward, the insane asylum or the loony bin, it’s pretty common to suggest someone go to Bellevue or to threaten to take them there.
