Joe Giudice claims prison is denying him alcohol treatment due to immigration status
RHONJ husband Joe Giudice has been facing a host of problems due to his immigration status during his 41-month long prison sentence.
Joe Giudice’s immigration status has been causing him some serious problems ever since he went to prison. Despite living in the U.S. since he was a child and being married to a U.S. citizen, rumors that he would be deported after finishing his prison stint have been non-stop.
It turns out that deportation isn’t the only issue that Joe has been having. He’s trying to get into an alcohol treatment program while still behind bars and they won’t let him in. The program was recommended to Joe Giudice by the judge who sentenced him.
According to Page Six, completion of the alcohol treatment program could mean a sentence reduction for Joe. It was reported that finishing the program could shave a whole year off his sentence.
Joe Giudice is claiming that administrators at Fort Dix where he is housed are illegally keeping him out of the program. They are citing Joe’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer as the reason for refusing to let him in.
Apparently, there is a community treatment portion of the program that Joe wouldn’t be able to complete because of the immigration detainer. According to the Bureau of Prisons website, inmates who have detainers like his aren’t allowed into the program because they won’t be able to complete it. That means Joe may be forced to serve that extra year in prison rather than
That means Joe may be forced to serve that extra year in prison rather than taking part in the alcohol treatment program in order to gain an early release.
To make matters worse, Joe Giudice is upset because he says administrators at Fort Dix are not allowing him to challenge his deportation. He claims that other prisons allow it but for whatever reason, Fort Dix will not allow inmates to go through that process.

The deportation order doesn’t mean that Giudice will get shipped back to Italy as soon as he exits prison. He will still have a chance to fight it in court but that won’t happen for a couple more years because of his inability to complete the alcohol treatment program and earn an earlier release date.
