Former ‘RHOC’ star Gretchen Rossi explains why her wedding plans are on hold

When will Gretchen Rossi marry her fiancé, Slade Smiley? It won’t be happening anytime soon according to the former RHOC star.

Do you remember when Gretchen Rossi proposed to her longtime boyfriend, Slade Smiley on the Real Housewives of Orange County? If you don’t, that’s okay. It happened in April 2013, but it feels like decades have passed since the big proposal.

Gretchen recently addressed questions about her wedding and why it hasn’t happened yet. As much as we can’t remember exact dates, we still remember Gretchen and Slade. And, for some reason, we’re still thinking about the wedding that keeps getting pushed off.

Let’s let this sink in — Gretchen and Slade’s engagement took place four years ago. Four years and three months, to be exact. Is that a Guinness World Record for the longest engagement? Probably not, but still. Why wait?

At this point, they are basically married without the need for a ceremony. Gretchen and Slade have been living together for so long it may be considered common law marriage.

It’s all about the money, money, money….

But Gretchen has a decent reason as to why they haven’t tied the knot — money.

We all think of present and former RHOC stars as being super-rich. Apparently some of them don’t have $200,000 to throw around for a wedding.

Seriously, that sounds like one hell of a wedding. But that’s what Gretchen thinks she’d spend if she planned the wedding of her dreams.

She wants an over-the-top affair, but it’s that’s not financially feasible right now.

Right now, they are spending their money on IVF treatments because first comes love, then comes baby, then comes the wedding if there’s cash left over.

Understandable.

Gretchen likes ‘big, over the top things’

Gretchen and Slade recently appeared on the Tomorrow Show, whatever that is. Maybe it’s one step ahead of the Today Show — who knows. (video below)

Gretchen was rather long-winded about the whole “why we aren’t getting married right now” thing. Here are some of the important tidbits of information from the Tomorrow Show interview.

"“…Slade and I don’t necessarily do things small … We kinda like extravagant, big, over the top things. Feels a little irresponsible right now to go do that when you know his son is struggling still, we’re going through some you know, financial stuff with that still and always. Um, we’re trying to have a baby that’s very expensive … Um, so our money right now is really being focused on these other things. We don’t feel like going and spending $200,000 on a wedding as the most responsible thing do right now.”"

Um, yeah. Thanks, Gretchen. We get it. The daily grind gets expensive. Who has extra cash to throw around for a $200,000 wedding?

And yeah, spending that much for a party would not be responsible. Ever. Unless you are ridiculously rich and have money to burn.

So, there you go, RHOC fans. Don’t expect to see the Gretchen and Slade getting hitched anytime soon.

Unless they win the lottery or, as Gretchen says, she has “stupid money bleeding out of you know, the backyard trees.”
