Another juicy twist in the ongoing saga of Phaedra Parks and the producers of Real Housewives of Atlanta.
A new report suggests Phaedra Parks’ firing from the Real Housewives of Atlanta wasn’t about the Kandi Burruss lie after all. Rather, the producers took issue with Parks’ unwillingness to divulge anything about her own life, ultimately deciding that she wasn’t worth her paycheck.
Let’s recap: Phaedra Parks spread a lie that Kandi Burruss and her husband Todd Tucker planned to drug and rape Porsha Williams. Parks role in making up the rumor wholesale came out during the fourth part of the RHOA reunion show, after which it was reported she had been fired from the show.
Now, we get news that her firing did not have to do with the Burruss rumor, but rather her lack of contribution to the show itself. Specifically, that “Phaedra’s storyline just doesn’t warrant her $1.3 million paycheck.”
A source told RADAR Online:
"“Phaedra was not renewed because she wasn’t willing to share her true personal life,” a source explained. “Producers have been begging her to date and open up about what truly went on in her marriage to Apollo [Nida] and react to Apollo’s girlfriend.”"

It’s not surprising that Bravo and RHOA would lean into the Kandi Burruss reason. It makes the network look good and like they were firing Parks for her behavior and some sense of morality. This new report, however, suggests, it’s much more about the bottom line. Parks wasn’t willing to give the producers the drama RHOA demands and so she was cut. Similarly, the detail that Phaedra isn’t banned from Bravo — that she is “always welcome to appear in future installments as a guest” — suggests that again, it’s not the slander or pot-stirring they oppose, but rather her own privacy.
Curious, curious.
